Open PhD Position on the topic of Biosensors for Neural Interfaces

We are excited to announce an open PhD position in our group within the International Research Training Group “Multidimensional Biomaterials [MB]²” (GRK 3194) — a collaborative program between the University of Bayreuth, The University of Melbourne, Monash University, and Swinburne University of Technology (https://irtg-mb2.de/).
🧬 Research Project 6: Duplex Biostimulating / Biosensing Hydrogel Scaffolds for Neural Interfaces
This project develops composite hydrogels incorporating photosensitive and conductive nanoparticles with immobilised enzymes (biosensing) to simultaneously stimulate and sense neural cell responses. The goal is to create advanced platform enabling real-time electrochemical readouts during 3D co-stimulation, addressing key challenges in understanding neurological and brain diseases.
The successful candidate will work at the interface of:

🔹 Neural Interfaces
🔹 Electrochemistry
